This cafe is a more comfortable place with a very neat design. Their large kitchen is most of the cafe, where the goodness comes from!
Being one of the hardest types of foods to make vegan, and the least likely to find, a sandwich shop that is all vegetarian is a real treat. Hillside Quickies specializes in gourmet sandwiches and hot soups, and their menu is simply amazing. The huge selection all look delicious, boasting ingredients such as carmelized onions, thai red curry, avocado, vegan lime japapeno mayo, even the use of potato salad as a condiment.
Their burgers look just as appetizing, so do the salads & wraps. Ahh.. if there was only more time. This National Public Radio recognized cafe definitely understands how to do lunch right.
Their seitan sandwich is contstructed on a thick flavorful artisan bread with a great crunchy crust. The thin sliced seitan is accompanied by grilled sweet onions, tomatoes, lettuce, vegan mayo, and potato salad. All the flavors coming together is delicious, with lots of complimenting and familiar tastes. On the side, was their signature spiced brown rice. Coupled with a Boylans soda, it is complete heaven. The total (with soda) was was about $13 plus tax. This lunch (pr snack) is more than filling, and gives enough energy to walk Capitol Hill!
